I am replacing a terry robe that is about 20 years old...it is still going strong, not at all tattered, but has faded and thinned somewhat over the years--as it has turned out finding a quality robe for a decent price is quite a pain! I purchased this robe, the hooded version (also velour in the same brand) as well as a shorter robe by iRelax--all purported to be 100% Turkish cotton. I feel that each of these robes has something to recommend it, but of the three, this one is my favorite as far as appearance and fit. I am 5'4" and usually wear a size 14 or 16 and the sizing information suggested on the manufacturer's website indicated size M might offer the best fit. However, I have found that many robes in M are actually unisex even though this may not be implicitly stated and tend to fit fine through the shoulder/upper body but are a bit narrow through the hip and tend to gap below the knee. Accordingly, I ordered all three of these robes in XL because I wanted to make sure there would be plenty of overlap for walking around/sitting. I was worried that this robe would be too big and much too long, but that turned out not to be the case--it is a bit over-sized but not excessively so--I feel it fits pretty much as I would have expected from the product image. I imagine slim women would want to size down, if possible. The length is a few inches above the ankle (which I prefer) and the sleeves are not too long when cuffed as shown (and can easily be unrolled for extra warmth when I am snuggling up on the couch for the evening). The only thing I did not like is that this robe seems a bit short-waisted, which can be seen in the product image, especially for the pink and navy options--the yoke created by the termination of the shawl collar is just a bit higher that I would like, but this is just a minor cosmetic consideration and doesn't comfort or function. In my opinion, this is a mid-weight robe--substantial without being heavy, and the outer velour is very attractive & smooth while the inner terry is warm and absorbent. I did not experience more than the expected amount of shedding of small fibers left over from manufacturing and after washing it was soft with very minimal shrinkage (cold water wash, line-dried until almost dry and then tossed in the dryer on low heat for a short time to finish off. I'm very pleased with my purchase and the light pink color is lovely--I chose this color because it is the least expensive option. To compare, the sleeves on the hooded version are considerably longer (I guess this robe is more of a kimono style and the sleeves are wide & not designed to be cuffed--I just roll them up twice and they stay put, plus the contrast of the inner terry loop against the exterior velour looks kind of pretty) and the while the length is similar to that of the shawl-collared robe (it hits me a few inches above the ankle) the overall fit is larger--much roomier through the shoulders and body; size M would probably work better for me in this style. I definitely appreciate the hood because I am usually up very early in the morning and am typically freezing after my shower! So nice to feel warm, cozy and dry even after washing my hair, while I enjoy my morning tea and get ready for the day. Otherwise, the two robes are pretty much the same in terms of quality of fabric & construction (I would say these are well made--nice, even stitching, carefully executed details. I would consider both of these robes to be of very good quality & well worth the price I paid (42.95 for this one, $41.95 for the hooded, which I purchased in iris) although I have to say I would probably not pay the regular suggested prices (listed at around $100.00?) for either of them...The third robe that I purchased (by iRelax) is also of good quality, although it seems more utilitarian (not necessarily a bad thing) and the fabric (terry loop inside & out, tan color) does not look or feel quite as nice as the other two--it is a shorter, knee-length version, and is thick and cozy, and it fits well and has inner ties to help keep it closed and hanging at an even length all the way around (a feature that is not present on the robes by Towel Selections), plus it was available at a terrific price, making it quite a bargain. However, there was one major flaw--the sleeves were a bit too short even before washing, and a little more so after washing even though I took care to use cold water and line dry only. I would have returned this robe if I had paid the regular price, but as it was such a good deal I decided to keep it (and although it is otherwise too big for her, the sleeve length is perfect for my grand-daughter, who likes to snuggle up in it).
